It’s Dangerous Out There

It’s Dangerous Out There

Let’s face it – it’s dangerous out there. I mean the public highways. There are a lot of bad drivers. Some of them don’t know the rules of the road. Others just don’t seem to care. There are a lot of rude people out on the roads and there’s little consideration sometimes for others. The fact is, when you’re out there, you’re on your own and you’ve got to take care of yourself. This means driving defensively. You’ve got to be at the top of your game.

What are the Main Causes of Car Accidents?

Speeding is the number one cause and just general inattention.

General inattention is sometimes referred to as distracted driving. Distracted driving has a number of causes. The worst we now know is really texting when you’re using your cellphone. It takes your mind off of the road, it takes your eyes off the road and it actually takes over your motor functions because you’re busy operating your thumbs rather than the vehicle.

Drinking and driving of course, and any kind of use of a stimulant is problematic. Not only criminal in some instances but grossly negligent because of the lack of mindfulness that you can bring to any kind of situation.

Other Causes of Vehicle Accidents

There are other forms of distracted driving that can lead to accidents.

Kids in the backseat and other things going on in the vehicle that you’re having trouble controlling. Even when you’re sick or not feeling well, being overtired. These are all dangers that drivers bring to an already dangerous situation.

As I’ve said, you can’t control everybody else on the highway. However, you can control your own conduct. That means that you have to be at the top of your game and you’ve got to bring your best day, every day to that important job of driving. You owe it to yourself, you owe it to the other occupants in your vehicle, to your family and friends and of course, other people on the highway.

So, in the end, drive defensively and be careful.
